MY TESTIMONY & 50TH BIRTHDAY TRIBUTE TO AN ENIGMA 🎊
As I reflect on my journey, one of the most significant moments that comes to mind is my introduction to Reverend Oluwafemi Ikusagba, fondly known as Pastor Femi, in 2007 at ECWA English Mushin, where he faithfully served as an Associate Minister.
During his years of service under two Senior Ministers, particularly alongside Reverend Cosmos Nwachukwu, ECWA English Mushin experienced what many would describe as a golden era—an exceptional season of growth, revival, and spiritual vitality. Pastor Femi distinguished himself through his genuine love for people, his desire to understand their struggles, and his unwavering commitment to supporting them. His dedication to reaching every member, regardless of status or background, reflected the spirit of Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians 9:22–23.
Having arrived in Lagos from my village in 2002 and becoming part of the large ECWA Mushin congregation, I spent several years feeling somewhat unnoticed. Although I had given my life to Christ the previous year, I still lacked meaningful involvement in church activities. In 2007, Pastor Femi’s discerning eye noticed what many had overlooked. A simple conversation about my level of involvement revealed my disconnect from church life. Rather than leaving me there, he intentionally guided me toward the Gospel Team and the Youth Fellowship.
That singular act of care changed the course of my spiritual journey. Pastor Femi possesses a rare gift for identifying potential in people and helping them discover their place in God’s purpose.
Words can hardly capture the depth of his impact. He exemplifies what it means to be a true pastor—a shepherd who genuinely knows and cares for his flock, a faithful discipler, mentor, coach, and leader. Together with his beloved wife, whose warmth, humility, and love beautifully complement his ministry, they have become a formidable force for God’s kingdom.
I remain profoundly grateful for the role you played in shaping my early Christian walk and helping me grow in faith. As you celebrate this remarkable Golden Jubilee, my prayer is that God will continue to strengthen you, preserve your passion for His work, and expand your influence for His glory.
Leaders of your character, commitment, and compassion are truly rare. You are a gift to the body of Christ, and your impact will continue to be felt for generations to come.
